چکیده

Introduction Inertial effects are ubiquitous and unavoidable in stress-controlled rheometry. Many readers of this Bulletin will have seen the kind of phenomena shown in the experimental data of Figure 1. If the fluid is sufficiently viscoelastic, inertio-elastic 'ringing' events (i.e. damped oscillations) are observed in the angular displacement measured at the start of a creep test, as a result of the coupling of instrument inertia and sample elasticity. Even if the fluid is a simple viscous Newtonian fluid one may have noticed that the initial strain response of any real creep test is always quadratic in time, rather than the simple linear

Interfacial viscoelasticity, yielding and creep ringing of globular protein-surfactant mixtures

Protein-surfactant mixtures arise in many industrial and biological systems, and indeed, blood itself is a mixture of serum albumins along with various other surface-active components. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) solutions, and globular proteins in general, exhibit an apparent yield stress in bulk rheological measurements at surprisingly low concentrations. By contrasting interfacial rheological...

Design and Analysis of Step Stress Accelerated Life Tests for Censored Data}

Life testing often is consuming a very long time for testing. Therefore, the engineers and statisticians are looking for some approaches to reduce the running time. There is a recommended method for reducing the time of failure, such that the stress level of the test units will increase, and then they will fail earlier than normal operating conditions. These approaches are called accelerated li...

Presenting an experimental creep model for rock salt

During the recent decades, the design and construction of underground spaces into rock salt have been particularly regarded for storing petroleum fluids, natural gas, and compressed air energy, and also for disposing nuclear and chemical wastes. The rock salt hosting such spaces will be subjected to various types of monotonic/cyclic, short-term/long-term stresses during the construction and/or ...

A Mathematical Approach for Describing Time-Dependent Poisson’s Ratios of Periodontal Ligaments

Periodontal ligament is a thin layer of soft tissue that connects root of a tooth to the surrounding alveolar bone. These ligaments play an important role in initiating tooth movement when loads are applied to teeth with orthodontic appliances. The majority of such soft tissues exhibit as viscoelastic bodies or have a time-dependent behavior. Due to the viscoelastic behavior of the periodontal ...
